For activity holidays the French alps are hard to beat, with a wealth of activities available during the summer season. Obviously popular for walking holidays, mountain biking now also proliferates, with many ski lifts running to reduce the amount of hard work!! The activities are not restricted to land-based pursuits though, as there are many rivers and lakes for watersports such as sailing, rafting, canoeing and kayaking.

Apartment 2 is one of our six luxury apartments set in a spectacular location at the foot of the famous Les Bossons glacier, only 3 minutes drive from the centre of Chamonix. Les Bossons is located directly between the Les Houches and Chamonix ski areas - perfect for those wishing to enjoy peaceful surroundings with easy access to the hustle and bustle of Chamonix. The chalet has been privately owned for the last 10 years by Richard and Jenny Avent, who live in one of the apartments in order to offer you the best possible personal service. Apartment 2 is a ground floor apartment which was completely renovated to a very high standard in August 2003. It has fantastic views over the Brevent side of the valley through a large picture window, and a patio area to dine outside, if weather permits, enjoying the setting sun. The apartment has an open plan layout with fully equipped kitchen area with essential utensils and cooker with oven, grill and electric hob, living area with twin/double sofa bed, and bathroom with shower and wc. For larger groups, the studio can be rented together with our 5 other luxury apartments sleeping 4/6 and 6/8 persons. In addition, for those on a tighter budget, we can also offer our simpler 'budget' apartments, sleeping between 4 to 8 people.

Located between two national parks, the Parc des Ecrins and the Queyras, there are endless opportunities for all including walking, climbing, mountain-biking, horse riding, sailing, swimming, etc.   Our first floor studio apartment is ideally suited for a family of four, or up to four adults. It is located only 100m from the commercial centre of Villeneuve, including shops, bars, restaurants, cinema, swimming pool, etc....and only 300m from the old town with its alpine charm. LA PLAGNETTE, Abondance Valley, near Lake Geneva, French Alps

Comfortable and spacious restored traditional Savoyard farmhouse with splendid mountain views, sleeps 5.

This typical old Savoyard farmhouse is situated at a height of 900 metres in the Abondance Valley, a very beautiful pre-Alpine valley, famous for its brown and white breed of cows and cheese of the same name. Thonon les Bains and Evian lie at the bottom end of the valley, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The area provides splendid walking country, as well as having lake and pool swimming nearby, and white water sports on the nearby River Dranse. Excursions can be made to Annecy, Chamonix and Mont Blanc, while Geneva is around an hour away by car. With its lower part in stone, and upper part in wood, the property has been completely restored and modern amenities installed, whilst keeping its character intact. It is comfortable and spacious, with splendid views across the valley and to the mountains beyond. The large living kitchen on the ground floor is well equipped, and has a French window leading out onto a grassy terrace for outside eating. Also on the ground floor are a single bedroom and shower room with washbasin and wc. On the second floor is a large living room created out of what was once the barn, together with two double bedrooms and a further bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and wc. Attached to the house is a garden / meadow, for which outside furniture and barbecue are provided.

Les Contamines is a totally unspoilt resort offering a multitude of activities in winter and summer. In winter Les Contamines is a skiers and snowboarders paradise with its reputation for excellent snow conditions from Christmas to late april. There is skiing to suit all levels from families and complete beginners to expert skiers and several cosy mountain restaurants. The village has a good selection of shops and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. The chalets each consist of 2 bedrooms on the first floor (one double, one triple), downstairs is a well equipped open plan kitchen, living and dining area and bathroom. Outside is a south facing wooden deck and garden with swings (Le Bothys garden also has a childrens playhouse and tree house). This beautiful, 1 bedroom apartment in Monetier-les-Bains, Serre Chevalier, has been built to the highest standard, in traditional wood and stone, with eco-friendly geothermal underfloor heating system from the local thermal springs. In a south-facing, ground-floor location with terrace and small garden it has stunning views of the mountains. The apartment has one double bedroom and a lounge/kitchen area which is fully equipped with hob, small oven, large fridge and dishwasher. There is also a washing machine. The lovely shower-room has a vanity unit, hairdryer and shaver socket. The double bedroom has fitted cupboards, large chest of drawers and bedside tables. The lounge area has sofabeds and dining table with sliding doors to the terrace. There is a ski locker and boot storage in the secure ski room off the lobby. There is a partly covered swimming pool, heated by the thermal springs, with a private changing cubicle for each apartment, as well as a sauna and steam room. Only 200m from the ski lift in winter, it is also an ideal location for a relaxing (or active) summer break. The lifts reopen in mid-late June for walkers, climbers and mountain bikers, or simply enjoy the wild flowers and mountain animals. It is a short walk to the village centre, with shops and restaurants, and a Museum of religious art. Enjoy a stroll along the river to Villeneuve or Le Casset, or hire a bike for a more exhilarating trip. The town of Briancon with its Napoleonic history is only 20 minutes by car.

Our apartment is located in a picturesque and unspoiled alpine valley overlooking the River Dranse. Further up the valley are small farms, then mountains leading to the Swiss border. A 20 minute walk along the river bank, or a 5 minute drive, will take you to the centre of Morzine. There are a large range of activities available: walk to Switzerland in 2-3 hours via the Col de Coux; hike all or part of the GR5 footpath from lac Leman to Chamonix; go mountain biking on trails ranging from pedestrian to extreme; fish for trout or go rafting on the Dranse; try canyoning on the Cascade de Nyon, 200 metres from the apartment; climb the rocky peaks of the Chablais Alps; play golf at Les Gets or Avoriaz; swim in Morzine's Olympic sized outdoor pool; ride up the valley on horseback. Sleeping 4–6 comfortably, the apartment has two bedrooms, one with a double bed the other with full-size bunk beds and, in the mezzanine above, a further mattress and base. There is a bath with shower over, a basin and washing–machine in the bathroom and the toilet is separate. Refurbished in 2007 with the bathroom, the kitchen area is fully equipped with a 4-ring hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The living area has dining space for 6 with a double sofa bed, TV, DVD, video and mini HiFi. It opens on to a south-west facing balcony with extensive views over a wooded hillside, catching the afternoon sun. There is a separate cave for storing sports equipment and a reserved parking space directly outside.

The lounges have large balconies with table & chairs, TV, DVD player & discs, CD player & discs, books & board games, settee & easy chairs. Brand new for 2007/2008, this delightful apartment is just a short walk from the centre of the traditional Savoyard village of Sainte Foy Tarentaise - with several good restaurants, bar, shops and post office. Unlike custom built ski resorts, the village really comes alive in summer, with occasional bands playing in the village bar, and various fetes and festivals during the summer months. There is a tennis court in the village, an adventure playground with zip-wires etc in Seez 10 minutes away, as well as a superb outdoor pool in nearby Bourg St Maurice (15 minutes), which is also famous for kayaking and white water rafting. In the heart of the Vanoise National Park, the location provides plenty of opportunities for walking, mountain biking - or just enjoying the stunning views of Mont Pourri from the comfort of the terrace!!

Chalet Sol Re, once a traditional farmhouse, has been carefully renovated into a really stunning chalet with lots of character. The chalet is in an idyllic location, situated in a tiny picturesque hamlet called Essert La Pierre, which is a 5 minutes drive into the centre of Morzine. On the first floor, Mont D'Evian and Cote De Arboz (each sleeping 4) are bright spacious studios with a double bed and 2 fold down bunks, fully equipped kitchenette, dining table and chairs, sofa, & bathroom. Both face south and get sun all day through the French doors which lead onto a large balcony. Roc D'Enfer (sleeps 4) is a bright spacious apartment with a bedroom with 2 bunks and main room with a double bed and three seater sofa. It has a fully equipped kitchenette, dining table and chairs, and spacious bathroom with full size bath with a shower attachment. French doors lead onto a large south facing balcony - the view from which is just spectacular. Mont Chery and Ressachaux on the second floor are bright, spacious studios, each with an additional bedroom, to sleep 4-6 each. Both have a double bed under the eaves and 2 beds on the mezzanine. Each has fully equipped kitchenette, spacious bathroom, dining table and chairs, sofa and French doors leading onto a south facing balcony. Newly renovated Nantaux is a spacious one bedroom apartment sleeping 4-6 with a Kingsize bed in a separate good sized ensuite bedroom and then 2 single beds and a fold out double sofa bed in the main room. It has a brand new fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, dining table and chairs, sofa and armchair. These two brand new luxury detached chalets are located in the French Alpine Village of Morillon, in the Northern French Alps in Haute Savoie between Geneva and Mont Blanc. In the summer you can walk or mountain bike from the door onto the 900 kms of mountain trails, or enjoy the numerous other activities such as White Water Rafting, Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Horse Riding, Trekking with Pack Donkey, Paragliding, Hang gliding, Golf, Archery, Quad Bikes and Mountain Roller Boarding. Morillon has a blue lake with several activities around it like the adventure park (high rope tree activity for all ages) and Pony Riding, Swimming, Tennis, Trampolining and a flat cycle track linked to Samoëns, suitable for all ages. Some ski lifts are open in Summer for access to the mountain for walking, mountain biking, rock climbing, paragliding and roller boarding. Both chalets, Le Cochon Noir and Les Trolls, are new, detached, traditionally built from pine and similar in layout. They are 4 bedroom chalets with 2 bathrooms in a group of 6 chalets situated part way up the mountain at Morillon with stunning 180° views of the Giffre valley. The four bedrooms are all twin bedded, and the beds can be pushed together to make doubles. Cotton sheets, pillows, duvets and towels are provided. The kitchen has oak fitted cupboards, fitted hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, a large fridge freezer and leads off the living room for sociable cooking. The living room is open plan and has a dining area and comfortable sofas to relax around after an active day. Beautifully restored typical Savoyard farmhouse in tranquil and charming Alpine hamlet, with wonderful panoramic views, sleeps 9.

This typical old Alpine chalet/farmhouse, dating from 1847, has been beautifully restored to include modern amenities, whilst keeping its original character intact. It is situated at a height of 800 metres in a tranquil and charming Alpine hamlet midway between Morzine and Thonon-les-Bains. The house is spacious, comfortable and airy, with panoramic views from its windows to Mount Hermone and as far as the Swiss Jura. The living area is on three floors - the most important room being the large lounge/kitchen on the second floor created out of what was once the barn. The original beams are still in place, together with pine-parquet flooring, wooden ceilings and white walls. The room is heated by a cosy wood-burning stove around which easy chairs nestle. The kitchen and eating facilities are conveniently grouped in one corner of the room, and a French window opens onto a balcony-terrace for meals outside and sunbathing. The five bedrooms, distributed on various floors, consist of three doubles, a twin and a single. The bathroom contains a bath, shower, washbasin and WC. Outside is a small patio/garden. There is parking next to the house. The house is situated at the junction of the Morzine, Abondance and Hermone valleys and makes an excellent base for excursions into them. Each contains spectacular mountain scenery and trails for walking. A variant of the hikers footpath GR5, 'Balcony of Leman', passes through the hamlet itself. There are swimming pools at Morzine, Chatel, Thonon and Evian, and it is also possible to swim from numerous beaches on Lake Geneva. Lake Montriond provides safe swimming for young children and there is a lake with excellent swimming at Le Beunaz near Bernex. White water sports, rafting and canoeing are available on the river Dranse.

The chalet is off the main Samoëns valley road, in the wide Giffre valley, with a fully fitted kitchen, L shaped living/dining area with open fireplace, large south facing balcony, 4 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - comfortably sleeping 8, but can sleep up to 10 plus cot. Outside is a large enclosed garden and secure parking. 80 metres from the Chalet is a Bakery open early for croissants and baguettes. The alpine village of Morillon is a 10 minute walk, with shops, old chalets and restaurants. 300 yards from the chalet there is a swimming lake, beach, Zip wire, tennis, horse riding, rafting, mini golf and restaurant and café. There is a superb complex of swimming pools only 3 km away. You can learn to paraglide in one of two schools locally. There are 900km of marked walking trails and 600km of mountain bike trails. There are golf courses at Annecy, Les Gets, Flaine, and the championship course at Evian all just a short drive away. Just a comfortable 10 minute walk from the centre of Les Gets, each has fantastic views over the summer meadows of Les Perrieres. The two chalets have a similar layout, and both sleep 8-10 guests in four en suite bedrooms. Each has a fully equipped open plan kitchen and dining area and large sitting room with Satellite TV, DVD and CD player and open log fire. French doors open out onto the large lawn, where garden furniture is provided so you can dine outside using the built in barbeque or sunbathe on the loungers. For added luxury we have built a sauna and an out door hot tub in the garden to help you soothe any aching muscles and completely unwind on holiday! There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer, secure storage and washing facilities for bikes and parking for those driving. Les Gets is a great centre for summer activity holidays with walkers, mountain bikers and families enjoying the whole host of activities Les Gets itself and the surrounding area has to offer. The town itself is very typically Alpine, lots of wooden chalets and hotels decked out with hanging baskets of flowers and eating and drinking is enjoyed outdoors while lapping up the summer sun. There is a good selection of sports and gifts shops, creperies, patisseries and restaurants as well as the local weekly market. The town also has a man made swimming lake with floating raft, jetty and slide. Next to the lake there is a ropes course through the trees with tarzan nets, death slides and such like suitable for adults and kids alike.

It is approx 500 metres to the centre of Chatel village where you will find the Super Chatel lift and many excellent bars and restaurants. There are a range of activities from walking to mountain biking, white water rafting to horse riding and golf and many superb places to visit including Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) Thonon, Evian, or the medieval port of Yvoire. Also close by are the Swiss cities of Montreux and Lausanne. In traditional alpine style Chalet des Arbres is comfortable and inviting. The living area, with its raised open fire and comfy sofas, is the ideal place to relax and wind down after a day's activities. For activities out of the valley such as white water rafting, ropes course in Les Gets, canyoning in Annecy etc we have a luxury 8 seater mini-bus and will drive you to the activity (minimum of 4 people). The chalet is the result of a well thought out renovation of an old barn, the old beams and many original features give it a charming Alpine feel while the modern bathrooms, tasteful furnishings and added benefits of a sauna and on outdoor hot tub make it a trully special chalet. It has six spacious twin / double bedrooms (4 ensuite, 2 sharing large bathroom). The living area is a huge open plan room with log fire surrounded by leather sofas and large dining table. This is a traditional Savoyard chalet which was completely refurbished in 2004. You can be sure of a warm welcome, with every effort being put into making your holiday a wonderful experience. The chalet has six ensuite bedrooms with super-king size beds - 5 of these can be arranged as twins if required, and two of the bedrooms can take an extra single bed for larger groups. The grassy slopes up behind the chalet are a popular spot for parapenters to land offering great free entertainment. Cairn Lodge has seven bedrooms, two family ensuite rooms at the front of the chalet sleeping 2-4 both with balconies with views over Morzine, three ensuite twin/doubles, one ensuite twin/double with balcony looking towards Avoriaz and one bunkbed room, ideal for children or teenagers or for single guests as there is no single supplement. The dining /sitting room is open plan and enjoys fantastic views over Morzine, there are lots of comfy sofas centred around a wood burning stove and French patio doors open out onto the sun terrace and hot tub. Downstairs the garage has been converted into a games room making it ideal for families and large groups with additional sofas, TV and DVD player and a table tennis table. There is also a sauna/relaxation room with space for a massage table. There is plenty room for storing bikes and hoses for washing them down. Cairn Lodge is offered on either a self catering, B&B or half board basis; prices shown are for full occupancy of the chalet, self catering.

    Brown Bear Lodge is built of old style timber and local stone, inside the chalet has solid oak floors in the bedrooms and natural stone in the bathrooms and main living area. An enclosed garden with a hot tub & sun terrace ensures an enjoyable relax. The chalet sleeps 14-18 guests in 7 spacious ensuite bedrooms, all with handcrafted wooden cupboards. Materials from the region have been used for all the curtains, bedspreads and cushions for a true charming Alpine feel. On the first floor there are 4 triple rooms (King size double and single bed) - two have large en suite bathrooms and two have en suite shower rooms; all have balconies and great views out the front towards Pleney and Roc D'Enfer mountains and behind looking out towards the summit of Nantaux. The huge open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room on the ground floor has large oak dining table, plenty of comfortable seating, open fireplace, wide screen TV, DVD player and iPod docking station. The fully equipped kitchen includes 5 ring SMEG gas burner, 2 ovens, microwave, larder fridge and professional dishwasher. On this floor there is a twin/double bedroom with ensuite shower room. The lower level has 2 twin/double bedrooms with en suite shower rooms, the laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer and a large garage with table tennis table, 6 person sauna and plenty of storage for bikes and equipment. This chalet can be rented on a self-catered basis (price for the chalet for the week based on a maximum of 14 guests) or on a catered basis (price per person for the week with a minimum of 8 guests).
